Omeca Primo, the taxi service owner previously remanded on 13 charges of false pretence and denied bail, was granted bail totalling $20.4 million yesterday.

Primo, who is accused of defrauding multiple individuals under the pretence of owning an auto sales business, now faces a total of 60 charges. She is scheduled to return to court on December 13, 2024, for disclosure.

Primo appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court via Zoom on November 10 2024, represented by attorney Everton Singh- Lammy.

One of the charges involves defrauding Orande McDonald of $930,000 on July 6, 2024. According to the prosecution, Primo falsely claimed she could sell McDonald a Honda Vezel vehicle.

Lammy argued that Primo was not a flight risk and emphasized that the offences are bailable. However, the prosecution opposed bail, highlighting her alleged history of evading police contact and her arrest during a sting operation. They also claimed that Primo had threatened individuals who demanded repayment.

In earlier hearings, Magistrate McGusty had denied bail based on the prosecution’s concerns and ordered Primo to remain in custody. Additional charges against her were announced during her November 11, 2024, court appearance.
