Man sentenced to 24 months for theft from QC student

A 41-year-old man was yesterday sentenced to 24 months in prison by Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court after he pleaded guilty to stealing items valued at a sum of $570,000.

According to the facts of the simple larceny charge, on November 20 2024 at Camp Road and Thomas Lands Krishna Dindan stole one Lenovo laptop valued $270,000 and one Apple IPhone valued $300,000 property of Queen’s College student Jainarine Sookdeo.

He pleaded guilty with explanation in which he told the told court that he was cleaning the grounds of the school compound when he picked up the items.

He added that the items were returned to the virtual complainant that same evening.

The investigating rank told the court that Dindan is a known figure to the police having matters in both 2022 and 2023.  They stated that he was sentenced back in 2022 to one year imprisonment and in 2023 he was fined the sum of$80,000.

Given his history and his guilty plea the magistrate sentenced him to 24 months imprisonment.
