…with win over St. Joseph

The Sterling Products Ltd sponsored Schoolboys Tapeball Cricket competition came to a conclusion on Saturday with St. Rose’s High beating St. Joseph High by 9-wickets in the final at the National Cultural Centre tarmac, Mandela Avenue.

Batting first, the St. Joseph team managed 28/4 in their four allotted overs, it was not enough in the end as St. Rose’s chased down the target in 3.4 overs with 9 wickets to spare, ending on 30/1.

Joshua Sharma of the winning team was adjudged player of the match and tournament for his consistent performances with the ball.

Meanwhile, on the same day, at the D’Urban Park tarmac, Yarrowkabra Knights defeated Diamond Strikers in the Sports Ambassadors Trophy schoolboys tape-ball competition. Playing in the round robin stage, the Strikers batted first and made 38/5 from their four overs as Shane Hamid topscored with 17. However, the Knights chased down the target as Leon James’ 17 powered them to the win.
