-says Night Shelter much improved
The Ministry of Human Services says it operates a weekly outreach programme to bring homeless individuals off the streets and into its shelter.
It made the statement in response to a question from Stabroek News following this newspaper’s report on homeless persons living on Regent Street. Some said they had been living on the streets for years and that the government’s social services arms have not been in contact with them.
“We have a team that goes out weekly on the streets, and we would pick up persons who are homeless and indigent,” Minister of Human Services Dr Vindhya Persaud said on Tuesday to Stabroek News.
