Man held after suspected cannabis found at Baramita shop

On Tuesday at approximately 6.30 am, Police ranks from Regional Division #1, acting on information received, went to the shop of Eon Park located at Barama Line, Baramita, North West District.

At the time, Park was not around as he was in Georgetown, a release from the police said. Eusi Jones was in charge of the shop.

The ranks spoke to  Jones, a 22-year-old miner from Bartica, who was informed of the intention to conduct a search of his person and the business premises. Jones, who was alone in the shop, consented to the search, the police said.

During the search, Police discovered the following items under the shop counter:

-Twelve transparent zip-lock parcels containing seeds, leaves, and stems suspected to be cannabis.

-One black plastic bag containing a quantity of cannabis.

Jones was informed of the offence and cautioned. He was subsequently arrested and escorted to the Baramita Police Station.

Upon arrival at the station, the suspected narcotics were weighed in Jones’s presence, totalling 193 grams. The suspect is in custody, assisting with the investigation.
