In response to a question posed by APNU+AFC MP Vinceroy Jordan,  Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha announced during the 89th sitting of Parliament yesterday that the Abary sluice door, which was damaged by spring tides on November 15th, will be fully repaired within three weeks.

The sluice door, located in West Berbice, was swept aside by the spring tide, leading to significant flooding in the surrounding areas, including homes in Catherine, Calcutta, and Abary, Region Five.

As reported by Stabroek News on November 16th, residents had to contend with water flooding their properties. To mitigate further damage, stop logs were put in place after the tide receded that evening.
