We must reject the demons of racism

Dear Editor,

As is known I travel quite a bit and I am of mixed parentage, Indo and Afro. I was saddened when in Vishnu Bisram’s letter and attended meetings held at Mr. Green’s compound, where I learnt a lot about our history and that the split Bisram talks about in 1954-55, had nothing to do with race.

Further, it is unfortunate that Bisram is now trying to divide our country along racial ethnic lines, so in his letter he names Ankerville, Port Mourant or Bath Settlement or Black Bush or Enmore or Leonora or Anna Regina, an ugly backward step, which led to the call I’m told years ago for partition.

All of us, Editor, must raise our voices loudly against this demon being introduced by Dr. Vishnu Bisram.

Sincerely,

Nigel Bacchus
