Diamond Mineral Water Hockey
Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), Saints, and Hikers recorded contrasting divisional wins when the Diamond Mineral Water International Hockey Festival commenced last evening at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.
In the women’s division, GCC defeated Old Fort 3-1. Abosaide Cadogan recorded a double in the sixth and 16th minutes, while Gabriella Xavier netted in the 33rd. For the loser, Carolyn Deane scored in the 37th minute.
In the men’s division, Saints dispatched GCC 3-1. Jabari Lovell amassed a brace in the second and fifth minutes, while Shakeem Fausette scored in the 24th minute. For the loser, Kevin Spencer netted in the 15th minute.
On the other hand, Hikers downed GCC 2-1 in the men’s Over-45 Division. Devin Munroe and Brian Asregado tallied goals in the 10th and 23rd minutes. For the loser, Dwayne Scott recorded a conversion in the 14th minute.
Meanwhile, in the men’s Over-35 Division, GCC dismantled Hikers 6-1. The trio of Peter DeGroot, Kevin Spencer, and Orland Semple recorded respective doubles in the win. DeGroot bagged a double in the 10th and 24th minutes, while Spencer scored in the 19th and 24th and Semple netted in the 12th and 30th. For the loser, Shane Samuels scored in the 25th minute.
The tournament continues today at the same venue.
