Hampshire Hawks defeated the Rangpur Riders in a Super Over when the inaugural edition of the ExxonMobil Global Super League (GSL) continued last night at the Providence National Stadium, East Bank Demerara.
A super over was required to settle the outcome after the Rangpur Riders ended on 132/8 following a lower-order batting collapse in pursuit of the Hampshire Hawks identical score.
Batting first, the Riders unit recorded a score of 12/1. However, the score proved to be insufficient as the Hawks successfully overhauled the score, finishing on 14/1 in five deliveries following the batting exploits of Liam Dawson and Shan Masood, the former finishing the contest with a six.
