The Guyana Integrity Commission has confirmed that a total of 393 individuals remain in default of submitting their financial declarations, despite public calls for transparency and accountability in the country’s public service.
Dr Amanda Jaisingh, the Commission’s Secretary, in response to an inquiry by the Stabroek News via email on November 21st, 2024 clarified that the recent publication of names of defaulters had led to a noticeable increase in the submission of declarations. She said that the public disclosure was a deliberate step in enforcing the mandates of the Integrity Commission Act, which requires public officials to submit annual declarations of their assets and liabilities.
