Mom still seeking resolution seven months after baby’s death at daycare

Rebecca Anthony and her three-month-old son, Kyrie in happier times

Seven months after the death of her three-month-old son Kyrie Nelson, while in the care of Mya’s Daycare at Samatta Point Grove, East Bank Essequibo, Rebecca Anthony is still awaiting a resolution. The infant passed away on June 28, 2024, under circumstances that remain unresolved, with no charges filed or arrests made.

The daycare, which was operating without legal authorization, had been entrusted with Kyrie’s care while Anthony went to work. Anthony recounted receiving a call from a daycare employee informing her that her son was found bleeding from his nose. She emphasized that Kyrie had been in good health when she dropped him off that morning.
