The Guyana Amazon Warriors rebounded from their loss in the previous encounter to clip the Hampshire Hawks by four wickets when the Global Super League continued last evening at the National Stadium in Providence, East Bank Demerara.
Batting first, the Hawks amassed 146/6 at the end of their allocation. Shan Masood held together the innings with a gritty 76 from 54 deliveries, rescuing his side from the precarious position of 33-2.
Tony Albert was the next best scorer with 22 runs, while James Fuller chipped in with 17. The only other batsman to reach double figures with 11 runs was Joe Weatherley, as extras contributed a vital 10. Captain Imran Tahir was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-18, while Romario Shepherd, Dwaine Pretorius, and Tanzim Hasan snared one wicket apiece.
The Amazon Warriors, in response, overcame a top-order wobble at 41-3 to successfully overhaul the total in 18.2 overs, ending on 147/6. Recent recruit Roston Chase led the way with a top score of 33 runs from 26 deliveries, while Hassan Khan recorded an unbeaten 27 from 18 deliveries. Shimron Hetmyer contributed 24 while the ever-improving Gudakesh Motie recorded an undefeated 16.
Benny Howell was the primary threat with the ball as he recorded 2-20, while James Fuller tallied figures of 2-21.
