Ravens won the Elite 16 Basketball Championship, defeating Linden’s Victory Valley Royals by a 75-53 score last evening in the final at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.

The trio of Nikkoloi Smith, Ryan Stephney, and Shamar Huntley tallied 14, 14, and 13 points, respectively, for the victor. On the other side, the duo of Harold Adams and Orlan Glasgow netted 15 points apiece.

The contest started favourably for the Ravens unit, as they secured a marginal 15-14 lead at the end of the first stanza. Ravens then increased their advantage in the second period, scoring 22 points while restricting Royals to 14 to enter the halftime interval in control at 37-28.

Royals marginally reduced the deficit in the third period, as they outscored Ravens 15-14 to trail 43-51 entering the final stanza.

However, any attempts of a comeback win for the Royals were extinguished, as the Ravens outhustled the Region #10 unit 24-10 to secure the title.

In the third-place playoff, the Eagles defeated Kwakwani via walkover.
