Ravens dismantle Royals to win Elite 16 basketball crown

Ravens captain Shamar Huntley receives the championship trophy from Guyana Basketball Federation Vice-President and Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association President Jermaine Slater in the presence of his teammates and fans following the conclusion of the final.

Ravens won the Elite 16 Basketball Championship, defeating Linden’s Victory Valley Royals by a 75-53 score last evening in the final at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.

The trio of Nikkoloi Smith, Ryan Stephney, and Shamar Huntley tallied 14, 14, and 13 points, respectively, for the victor. On the other side, the duo of Harold Adams and Orlan Glasgow netted 15 points apiece.

The contest started favourably for the Ravens unit, as they secured a marginal 15-14 lead at the end of the first stanza. Ravens then increased their advantage in the second period, scoring 22 points while restricting Royals to 14 to enter the halftime interval in control at 37-28.
