Dear Editor,
The words of the late Jim Elliot “He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose,” were made popular by Gospel artiste Twila Promise. I humbly offer this timeless counsel to so many disgraced/ dishonoured, infective, inept, public officers who move from debacle to debacle; controversy to controversy, embarrassment to embarrassment, “grasping positions as their birthright.” These people, unfortunately are my fellow Guyanese, who choose “dishonour over death.” For what? For whose sake/ benefit? I just wonder where are the spouses, adult children/ grandchildren, friends, colleagues and honest subordinates to whisper to them, “Boss, it’s time to go; yuh looking thin; time up; resign; relieve yourself of unmerited stress and unnecessary publicity.”
Sincerely,
Ovid Schultz
