Akawini captures Pomeroon Inter-Village football crown

The victorious Akawini team collected their winnings from the tournament organiser, Ramesh Lyte.

The village of Akawini captured the inaugural edition of the Pomeroon Inter-Village Floodlight Football Championship, beating Macaseema on penalty kicks to capture the $60,000 first prize and bragging rights.

Under overcast conditions and intermittent showers, the final produced an even contest with momentum swaying either side, and by the full time, the two could not be separated with the scoreline at 2-2 at the Kabakaburi Village Ground in the Upper Pomeroon River.
