Unstoppable and Alexander Village advanced to the round of 32 in the Kashif & Shanghai Year-End Futsal Championship, as they secured contrasting wins last evening at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.
Unstoppable brushed aside Z-Tekk Family 3-1. Kiyose Roberts opened the scoring for Unstoppable with a 14th-minute strike. Leondera Arthur doubled their advantage as he made his presence felt four minutes later. The lead further ballooned as Marcus Reus found the back of the net in the 21st minute.
Marlon Beitel eventually netted a consolation goal in the 23rd minute.
On the other hand, Alexander Village edged Real Sports by a 4-3 score on penalty kicks after regulation time ended 2-2. Prior to the aforesaid conclusion, Akeal Pinheiro and Lavar Phillips scored one goal apiece for Alexander Village while Johnny Mendonza bagged a brace for Real Sports.
Up to press time, several other matches were underway.
The winner of the men’s tournament will pocket $2,000,000 and the championship accolade, while the second, third, and fourth place finishers will receive $1,000,000, $500,000, and $200,000 apiece and the corresponding accolade.
Meanwhile, each eliminated side barring the four semifinalists will walk away with $30,000.
In the women’s division, the victor will collect $200,000 and the respective accolade, while the second, third, and fourth place finishers will receive $100,000, $60,000, and $40,000 apiece.
