The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) A and B recorded contrasting wins when the ‘Maid Marian Wheat Up’ Women’s Football Championship commenced today at the Parade Ground.
GDF A mauled Herstelling Raiders 11-0. Jalade Trim bagged a helmet trick in the 10th, 16th, 18th, and 19th. Adding a hat-trick was Glendy Lewis in the second, 39th, and 44th minutes, while Niomie Williams bagged a double in the 42nd and 45th.
Chipping in with a 39th-minute conversion was Sandra Johnson, while an 11th-minute own goal added to the score.
GDF A then mauled Bartica 14-0. Trim recorded eight conversions in the first, seventh, 15th, 30th, 31st, 33rd, 40th, and 46th minutes, with Williams tallying a double in the 20th and 27th and Johnson registering a double in the fourth and 24th. Siblings Glendy and Glengie Lewis scored in the third and 48th minutes, respectively.
Meanwhile, GDF B defeated the Guyana Police Force A 1-0. Abioce Heywood scored in the 25th minute.
