Ravens, Eagles win as ‘One Guyana’ Basketball League bounces off

Defending champion Ravens and Eagles opened their campaign with comfortable wins when the 2024/2025 edition of the One Guyana Basketball League commenced at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue. Ravens clawed past Mambas 75-50. Atilla Williamson and Alroy Nurse led the victor with 14 points each while Nikoloi Smith and Terrence Daniels added 13 and 12 points, respectively.

On the other side, Jared Sears tallied a game-high 20 points while Brandon Bento, Cosmo Evans, and Jafar Gibbons added nine, eight, and seven points, respectively. Similarly, the Eagles unit, who finished second in the previous edition of the tournament, defeated the University of Guyana (UG) Trojans 82-70. The trio of Travis Belgrave and Zion Gray led the way with 22 and 21 points, respectively, while the trio of Michael Turner, Timothy Richardson, and Denzil Ross scored 13, 12, and 10 points apiece.

For the loser, Kadeem Peterkin tallied 17 points while Jushawn Bailey and Jether Harris netted 12 and 11 points, respectively. Adding eight points apiece were Dwight McKennon and Anton Fileen.
