Dear Editor,
I am so disappointed that the leaders of the government continue to deride the members of the duly accredited Opposition, which is, like themselves; elected by our people to unite and take the necessary action to make the most of our resources in the development of our country.
The latest condemnation is by the Vice-President about the leader of the Opposition doing nothing for which he is rewarded a reasonable salary and other benefits.
I would like to put forward the idea that the governing party has the obligation to utilise the ability and perspective of this Opposition and join with them in making decisions which would reflect the choices of a real “One Guyana”.
The manner in which the leaders of this government behave in announcing decisions made always seem to be, not only unilaterally, but by the few top guns without any consultation in Parliament.
I pray and hope for a more unified approach in our political affairs, in which it must be admitted is the only answer to this apparent disunity among those in power.
Sincerely yours,
Roy Paul
