AG in new bid to appeal decision in relation to Venezuelan monies here

-after missing Full Court deadline

Having failed to submit a key document to the Full Court on time, Attorney General Anil Nandlall SC has approached it again for an order that would enable him to move to appeal a decision in favour of US companies garnishing Venezuelan assets held by Guyana.

According to court documents seen by the Sunday Stabroek,  Nandlall on December 3rd 2024 lodged a Fixed Date Application with the Full Court following its dismissal of his Notice of Appeal in relation to the July 26, 2024 ruling of Justice Gino Persaud that an arbitral award in favour of Phillips Petroleum Company Venezuela Limited, ConocoPhillips Gulf of Paria B.V. and others against Venezuela could be registered here. This would therefore enable these companies to target monies held for Venezuela by the state of Guyana.
