As its steps up preparations for next year’s general elections, GECOM yesterday advertised for several categories of elections workers and trainers.
An advertisement in the Guyana Chronicle invited applications for Returning Officers, Deputy Returning Officers, Election Clerks, Clerical Assistants and temporary trainers.
The advertisement said that Returning Officers (ROs) will be responsible for the conduct of general and regional elections and report directly to the Chief Election Officer. In the 2020 general election, the District 4 Returning Officer was at the centre of many of the allegations that eventuated in a five-month delay in the finalization of results.
