Impasse at JSC over candidates for Appeal Court – sources

More than seven months after the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) advertised for applicants for Court of Appeal judges, there has been an impasse on the names submitted, sources say.

Sources told Stabroek News that the JSC has received five names so far but agreement has been elusive.

Stabroek News last week reached out to the JSC, which has its office in the Court of Appeal building, Kingston, and was told that Chairperson and Acting Chancellor of the Judiciary Justice Yonette Cummings-Edwards was not available as she was on duty.
