-in aftermath of poles collapse
Amid Thursday’s hair-raising collapse of concrete poles, residents of South Ruimveldt yesterday voiced their frustration over recurring power outages and delayed roadworks, which they say are negatively impacting their daily lives, especially during the holiday season.
The most recent disruption, a widespread power outage from December 12th to December 14th, left many in the area struggling to deal with its effects. Nikosi Bruce returned home from work to find that the power had gone out, potentially spoiling his family’s Christmas meat supply.
“The blackout had to potential to spoil everything, I had to throw away a few things,” Bruce lamented, adding that his grandmother, who requires a cool environment due to health concerns, also suffered from the lack of power.
