“This is the second such act against a sitting Indigenous Leader in under a decade as we come close to closing off the year.
“It is my sincere hope that going forward, the state treats the security of our Indigenous Leaders more seriously and that Toshaos in themselves take every precaution to ensure their own safety.
“I call on the GPF and all state apparatus that investigates these kinds of crimes to leave no stone unturned in the hunt for the perpetrator(s) and that the full force of the law is brought to bear in pursuit of justice.
“If should never become a hazardous job to serve one’s people, yet it is.
“Raise your Casique to our ancestors as you travel my friend.
They no doubt will be waiting to welcome you”.
