The families of the two pedestrians who were struck and killed on the public road at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) have told Stabroek News that their Christmas celebrations have been shattered and want justice for their loved ones.

The two pedestrians who died are 54-year-old Yvette Daniels and 48-year-old Vishnudat Mohabir of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).

Lance McKenzie, son of Daniels, told Stabroek News yesterday that his mother had left home on Saturday afternoon for a PPP/C Christmas party at Uitvlugt, East Bank Essequibo. McKenzie recounted that he was at the barber shop until 7 pm, and after he went to the supermarket and was told his mother was outside at a bar located next to the supermarket. McKenzie explained that he exited the supermarket and saw his mother with friends. He further stated that he approached his mother and she offered him a drink. A few minutes later, Mohabir (a neighbour) was seen at the bar. McKenzie said his mother requested  water instead of alcohol.
