Alonzo Melville, a 29-year-old bailiff of Byderabo Road, Bartica, appeared at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Magistrate Teriq Mohamed to answer to the charge of obtaining money by false pretence.
He pleaded not guilty, and bail was granted in the sum of $100,000, a release from the police said. The matter is set for continuation on 31st January 2025.
Melville is accused of obtaining by false pretence from Jasmine Mohammed, a 29-year-old gold miner of Karrau Village, Upper Cuyuni River, in September 2024.
