Exploding gas cylinder shocks Little Abary family

A damaged window

A family in Little Abary in Region Five is grappling with the aftermath of a 20-lb Massy gas bottle explosion that rocked their home early yesterday morning, leaving them without basic utilities and seeking answers from the supplier.

The explosion occurred at approximately 2 a.m. in the ventilated store room of Ms. Williams (first name requested to be withheld), whose family was left stunned and affected by the blast.

Speaking to Stabroek News (SN) yesterday, Ms. Williams described the horrifying scene: “I was sleeping when I heard a loud bang, like an explosion. I ran out of my bedroom and into the store room, but by then, the back door had been blown off, and there was nothing left of the room. The walls, the windows, the pipes—all shattered. We don’t have water to bathe, we can’t cook, we can’t use the toilet.”
