The foreign ministers of CARICOM and Japan have reiterated the call for the peaceful resolution of the border controversy between Guyana and Venezuela.
This position was contained in a joint statement issued following the Eighth CARICOM-Japan Ministerial Conference held on 14 December in Tokyo.
Regarding the situation in Venezuela, the Foreign Ministers stressed in the Joint Statement that the rules, such as respect for human rights and rule of law, should be respected by all parties in Venezuela, and that dialogue between the ruling and opposition parties is promoted toward the restoration of democracy in Venezuela.
