The Court of Appeal has revised the life sentence of Stafrei Alexander, a former Camp Street prison escapee, making him eligible for parole after serving 15 years.

Alexander, 41, was convicted in 2018 for the attempted murder of Curtis Thom, and initially sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

The incident occurred on March 23, 2015, when Alexander shot Thom multiple times outside his residence at Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown. Thom, who was feeding his dog at the time, suffered severe injuries, including gunshot wounds to his side and back, requiring emergency surgery and a seven-week hospital stay.
