The Ministry of Natural Resources (MoNR) on Tuesday stated that the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) needs capacity building for petroleum monitoring in a number of areas and singled out hastening steps to ensure sulphur content and carbon intensity tracking, as the amounts have implications for price paid.
“Is the newly commissioned GNBS lab able to test for total sulphur in crude? This is a very important metric in assessing the price of our crude on the global market, Changes over time to sulphur content has implications for price and demand for Guyana’s crudes; GNBS should provide formal correspondence to MoNR detailing full list of testing capabilities for new lab,” MoNR stated as it detailed its achievements for this year.
