The Government of India has announced that registration for the issuance of the Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) card, will now be available to the descendants of the fifth and sixth generations of the original Indian immigrants who arrived in Guyana as migrants and indentured labourers in the early 19th century from India, a High Commission of India release stated yesterday.
Previously, this facility was available only up to the fourth generation of the original Indian immigrants who arrived in Guyana.
