Trinidad: ‘Reddo’ gunned down, as friend drives away

(Trinidad Express) A La Romaine man was gunned down near his home on Thursday night.

Akeem Greene, also known as “Reddo”, 34, of Southern Main Road, was shot and killed on the corner of Ethel and Byron Streets.

A police report said that around 9.45 p.m., one of Greene’s friends arrived at his home and dropped off Greene’s silver Mazda 6.

The report said that the friend spoke to a brother of Greene and told him that his brother was shot.

The brother was told that Greene was driving the vehicle in La Romaine when he had cause to stop on Ethel Street.

When he exited his vehicle, a man approached him, pulled out a gun and opened fire.

Greene was struck multiple times and fell to the ground.

The friend drove off to Greene’s family’s home where he relayed what happened.

The police and ambulance services were contacted.

Greene was pronounced dead at the scene by a district medical officer.

The body was removed to the mortuary of the San Fernando General Hospital pending a post-mortem at the Forensic Science Centre in Federation Park.

Police have not yet uncovered the motive for the killing.
