Dear Editor:
I called the Guyana Embassy in Washington D.C yesterday (December 20) on behalf of a relative to find out how to renew a Guyanese passport (after visiting the website) and information on retrieving a pension. The conversation started out okay but as I began to ask more questions, which is a normal procedure, the receptionist got frustrated and eventually slammed the phone down. Despite how awkward and annoying I might have been, this behaviour is unacceptable, rude and low. I wonder if this is the standard at that “embassy “. I hope not. This individual obviously is not trained to work in a professional environment. I wonder how many people she treated this way? I will call again and see what happens.
Sincerely,
