The fifth edition of the KFC Goodwill International Football Series will see a new champion crowned tomorrow after local lads Chase’s Academic Foundation (CAF) upstaged last year’s winners Clarendon College (Jamaica) 5-4 in a 9-goal thriller to set up a final against Trinidadian side St. Benedict’s College.

With two semi-finals played at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue, Clarendon College based on form looked set to repeat as champions but CAF had other ideas; despite losing to St. Benedict’s College on Wednesday night in the group stage, they rebounded spectacularly to cement their legacy as Guyana’s top school team.

Clarendon opened proceedings with CAF’s goalie conceding a soft goal; Ramario Thompson sent an under-hit shot towards the Chase custodian who attempted to clear his line with a kick, however, he misjudged the kick and missed completely, with the ball rolling into the net to hand Clarendon a 1-0 advantage in just the 9th minute.
