I am writing to share my profound gratitude for the outstanding care I received at the New Amsterdam Hospital last month following a heart attack. My experience left me deeply impressed by the dedication and compassion of the medical team, and I feel it is important to recognize their exceptional service publicly.
Dr. Reddi, who I first met in the Accident and Emergency Department, demonstrated remarkable professionalism and care. His reassuring demeanour and thorough approach immediately set my mind at ease. Despite my initial mistrust of the New Amsterdam Hospital—largely influenced by negative perceptions in the media—Dr. Reddi managed to convince me to stay and receive treatment, a decision that ultimately proved to be life-saving.
During my brief admission to the ICU, Dr. Reddi went above and beyond his duties. He checked on me six times throughout the night to ensure my condition was stable and I was comfortable. When no porter was available, he personally wheeled me to the ICU, showcasing his commitment to patient care. His dedication and humanity were truly inspiring.
I also want to highlight the exceptional care provided by ICU Nurse Trellis. Her kindness and attentiveness were deeply comforting during a very challenging time. She consistently went the extra mile to ensure that I felt supported and well cared for.
Additionally, when I was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) Cardiology ICU via ambulance, I was accompanied by a doctor from India whose name I, unfortunately, did not catch. Her excellent care during the journey further reinforced my respect and admiration for the public healthcare workers in our country.
This experience has transformed my perception of public healthcare. The professionalism, dedication, and compassion demonstrated by Dr. Reddi, Nurse Trellis, and the unnamed doctor during my transfer deserve to be celebrated.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire team at New Amsterdam Hospital for their extraordinary efforts. Their actions reflect the highest standards of patient care and serve as a reminder of the incredible potential within our public healthcare system.
