‘One Guyana’ President’s Cup Squash
Jason-Ray Khalil, Nicolette Fernandes, Emily Fung-A-Fat, and Zion Hickerson captured divisional crowns when the ‘One Guyana’ President’s Cup Squash Championship concluded yesterday at the National Racquet Centre, Woolford Avenue.
In the men’s open final, Khalil overcame Shomari Wiltshire 3-1. Incurring a 0-1 deficit after losing the first set 8-11, Khalil equalised the contest in the second set as he prevailed 11-2. He then took a 2-1 advantage following an 11-7 score in the third set.
The comeback victory was then sealed in a hard-fought fourth set following a 13-11 score. On the other hand, the experienced Fernandes made light work of Mary Fung-A-Fat, winning in straight sets in the women’s final.
