Adel’s Rainforest Resort at the mouth of Akawini Creek and the Pomeroon River is a paradise for wildlife, especially birds of all plumage. It is ideally located on a thriving farm where eco-tourism, agro-tourism and adventure tourism all merge in a background that is forested.

“And we are fully organic. We use no pesticides. No weedicides. No artificial fertilisers. You can pick a fruit from the tree and eat it. That is why we have a lot of birds because if we were not organic, the birds would not eat them or thrive in the environment,” owner of Adel’s Zena Stoll told Stabroek Weekend.

The giant harpy eagle, South America’s largest bird of prey, was recently spotted in the Akawini Creek.
