The Guyana Sugar Corpo-ration (GuySuCo) has been given the necessary resources for a productive first crop and government has read them the ‘riot act’ saying that they have no excuse and must produce or face stern consequences.
“I made it very clear that if the targets, the target for 2025; the first crop target, and the second crop target, if the target is not achieved, [because] we are also bringing any technical support to help them. But if those targets are not achieved, then heads will roll. If those targets are not achieved, heads will roll,” President Irfaan Ali stated during an interview, as he provided an update to a question on the industry that Stabroek News had asked last month.
