Customers of the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) were left without withdrawal access to their accounts for around two hours yesterday due to a technical outage affecting the bank’s POS (Point of Sale), ATM, and GO Banking services.
The disruption, which began in the morning led to widespread complaints from frustrated customers who were unable to access their accounts, make withdrawals, or complete other essential banking transactions.
In an initial notice, GBTI informed customers that its systems were down, apologizing for the inconvenience. “Attention GBTI Customers, please note our POS, ATM & GO Banking systems are currently down. We are working diligently to resolve the issue & apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the statement read.
