The acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL), Kesh Nandlall yesterday told Stabroek News that that the second power ship, which is stationed in the Demerara River, is currently supplying a total of 60 Megawatts (MW) to the national grid.
“The power ship is now at full capacity, dispatching 60 MW to the national grid”, he said.
According to an update posted on GPL’s official Facebook page, the 60 MW of power is being supplied by four generators onboard the vessel, each with a rated capacity of 18 MW. This increased power supply is expected to provide much-needed relief to the growing demand for electricity across the country, particularly during peak consumption periods.
