It is now more than a month since a section of the public road at Sisters Village between Duncan Street and Saw Pit Turn on the West Bank of Demerara has been dug up, filled back, and left unfinished.
The residents of the village have since reported several issues they’ve encountered, including accidents, damage to their vehicles, and the issue of dust due to the aggregate left on the road.
The road was dug up by a contractor who then filled it back. Stabroek News understands that R. Sundhat Drainage and Irrigation Services, which was responsible for the initial works, completed the filling of the large hole that was dug but was asked to stop as another contracting company, GAICO, was expected to take over. Reliable sources further revealed that the company was not paid for the work it completed and bore all the associated expenses.
