Ivor Thornhill, a 36-year-old labourer of ‘E’ Field Sophia died yesterday after being beaten on Christmas night.
His reputed wife, Leslyn Norton is in custody, according to a police statement.
The police say that Norton related arguments between the two on Christmas morning which escalated into an incident at the Pink Shop where she said he threatened to kill her. She went home and detected that Thornhill was following her. She then alerted two men on a dam about her fears of being attacked by him.
It then appears that those two men attacked Thornhill and fatally injured him.
The scene was processed by detectives and a knife was found at the scene. The body was examined, and multiple wounds were seen to Thornhill’s face, stomach and ear. Several persons in the area were questioned. Checks were made for the suspects but they were not located. The body is currently lying at GPHC’s mortuary, awaiting a PME.
