(Trinidad Express)) The burnt remains of a man were discovered in Sangre Grande yesterday afternoon in the trunk of a vehicle.
The discovery was made at about 3 p.m. on Ojoe Road in North Eastern Settlement.
The deceased is believed to be 32-year-old Dane Hosein Jnr, who was reported missing on Christmas Eve.
According to initial reports, Hosein, from Quash Trace in Sangre Grande, was last seen alive at about 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
He had left his girlfriend’s home in his white Nissan Almera and informed relatives that he would be returning to his home soon.
Hosein did not return and all calls to his cellular phone went unanswered.
Concerned relatives contacted the police and filed a missing person’s report.
Yesterday afternoon, personnel from the Hunters Search and Rescue Team, led by Vallence Rambharat, went to the family’s home.
While there they got information that a burnt vehicle which matched the description of Hosein’s missing car, had been observed. The group, together with some relatives, made their way to the location which was said to be in an area known as Boisbande Village. There they found a burnt Almera. In the trunk, they found the burnt remains of a human being.
The police were notified and officers from the Eastern Division as well as the Homicide Bureau responded.
Police are currently treating the incident as a homicide.
The murder toll as of last night was 612 compared to 564 in 2023.
