Sixty-two-year-old Surajbali Seepersaud died after sustaining injuries in an accident on the Bath Settlement Public Road, West Coast Berbice on Christmas Eve.
The man was riding his electric bike in his home village at around 10 am when police alleged he turned suddenly into the path of minibus BAG 6537 owned and driven by a thirty-six-year-old of the said village.
Following the collision, Seepersaud fell on the road surface. He was picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital where he was seen and admitted.
The doctor observed that the patient had injuries to his head, face, arms and other parts of his body. He subsequently died despite medical intervention.
A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver of the bus and no alcohol was detected. The body of the deceased is presently at the Baileys Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
