Contractor pleads not guilty to discharging gun with intent on Christmas Day

Kawal Ramdeen called ‘Tanno’, a 42-year-old contractor, was arrested at about 8 pm on December 25th, 2024 and appeared in court yesterday where he pleaded not guilty to discharging a loaded firearm with intent.

The police said in a statement today that Ramdeen was charged with threatening language against Amanda Khan, a 29-year-old supervisor from Non-Pariel, East Coast Demerara (ECD), discharging a loaded gun with intent at Khan and malicious damage to property in relation to Khan.

He appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court #1, before Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce, where the charges were read to him.

He pleaded not guilty to all three charges. Bail was granted in the sum of:

*** $25,000 for threatening language

** $100,000 for malicious damage to property

** $250,000 for discharging a loaded firearm with intent.

The statement said that the bail is conditional, with reporting conditions twice per month at the Vigilance Police Station; no contact with the complainant; and instructions to lodge his passport with the court.

The matter was adjourned to 17th February 2025 for disclosure.
