Thirty-nine-year-old Daniel Darrell Snr., a truck driver hailing from Tabatinga in Central Lethem, died around 11:30 am yesterday on the Hunt Oil Stretch, Central Rupununi, after being attacked by a swarm of bees.

A police report yesterday said that he was riding a motorcycle towards Central Lethem with his 13-year-old son, Daniel Darrell Jr. As they travelled along the Hunt Oil Stretch, they encountered a swarm of bees. Both fell from the motorcycle, with the son managing to escape to safety despite being attacked, while the father was overwhelmed and became motionless on the ground.
