Dear Editor,
As a taxi driver, I traversed the major roadways of Guyana. I come in touch with folks from all walks of life. During my thousands of conversations, I always seek to extract from my fellow Guyanese who their preferred choice for person of the Year is. The names of the usual contenders always come up: President Ali, VP Bharrat Jagdeo, Opposition leader Aubrey Norton, Attorney Nigel Hughes and journalist Freddie Kissoon. But, the accolades for them pale in comparison to someone who is not in the limelight. And this same person has been the people’s choice for the third year in a row… Chief Justice Roxane George-Wiltshire. Madam Chief Justice George is far away the most admired and respected person in Guyana.
