(Trinidad Express) A man wanted in a brutal attack on a Carlsen Field woman was found dead yesterday, hanging from a tree in a forested area near his home.
Arnold Ganesh, 44, was discovered by members of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT), who had been searching since he went missing last Friday.
In an interview with the Express yesterday, head of the HSRT Vallence Rambharat said the search was motivated by a confession from Ganesh to a close male relative.
‘He communicated his intentions to his brother immediately after the incident with his wife, so the brother had an idea of his intention and that is what led to the search,’ he said.
Rambharat said search efforts had been under way since Friday and ended yesterday at around 10.20 a.m. with the discovery of Ganesh’s body at Dalphus Avenue, Thompson Trace, Carlsen Field.
Last Friday, Ganesh went missing after he brutally attacked his wife, Christine Chadee, with a piece of iron. Following the attack, relatives believe Ganesh consumed a poisonous substance.
A relative told the Express that Chadee, a mother of one, had vacated the house weeks ago. She returned last Friday to pick up the couple’s ten-year- old son, who was spending time with Ganesh.
She was later discovered bleeding on the bed by her son, who alerted relatives.
Chadee sustained multiple lacerations to her head and experienced bleeding and swelling to her head.
Up until last evening, the Express was told that Chadee, 32, remains a patient at the Intensive Care Unit at the Mt Hope Hospital.
A relative reported that since last Friday Chadee remains in a surgery induced coma.
‘She (Chadee) hasn’t woken up yet. They (doctors) put her in a coma so the brain could rest. The doctors said they’re hopeful, but there is no movement. Nothing. They said she would be blind in one eye, because the optic nerve is damaged,’ the relative said.
The relative added that the couple, who were married for 16 years, fought frequently.
‘They would fight every day. Day and night you would hear them,’ the relative said.
