Ministry says British Airways issue resolved

The Ministry of Public Works yesterday said that it was pleased to announce that all passengers, who were stranded in St. Lucia have now safely arrived in Georgetown, Guyana, as advised by British Airways (BA).

Passengers originally scheduled to travel from Georgetown (GEO) to St. Lucia with onward connection to London Gatwick International Airport were accommodated on a British Airways flight that departed last evening, the ministry said in a press release.

Due to the unavailability of seats on last evening’s flight, seven  passengers were unable to travel on the BA flight but will be accommodated on other commercial flights later last evening and today.

The Ministry of Public Works expressed its gratitude to the British Airways team for their cooperation in resolving this issue and ensuring the safe return of all passengers to their destinations.

On January 1st, the ministry said it was actively monitoring the significant disruption affecting passengers stranded in St. Lucia and Georgetown due to British Airways flight BA 2159’s cancellation on Monday, December 30th. The aircraft experienced unforeseen mechanical issues, a release from the ministry said.
